Does not fit All M-14 receivers
This is a well made, very substantial mount and should be more than adequate for just about any use that you put your rifle to. The only problem is fitting the mount. It is not as universal an application as you would be led to believe. If you are not a gunsmith, or are lacking in mechanical skills, you will probably have to get it fitted by somebody who knows how to modify the mount to fit your particular receiver. Unless you just get lucky and it fits! To be fair, I have seen this same problem in very high dollar M-14 mounts. This is a good mount; it just needs some machining to get it to fit.

Solid scope mount
I purchased this mount after much searching and homeworking on the internet. The more expensive mounts promised to do a much better job that this one, which set me back a whopping $42. So far, I cannot complain. I did take the mount to a smith to have it mounted because I did not have the tools to remove the stripper clip guide. I mounted the scope (a Tasco 3-9x40) by myself. I am very satisfied as of now. I would recommend that if you get a M-14/M1A scope mount, make sure that you get a mount that locks into the stripper clip guide, if not I can see how the mount might shake loose. For $42 you cannot beat this mount. I'd say try this mount and not the $150+ mounts. If you do not like it, you have lost $40, which while not a small amount is still not a massive loss (seeing as the weapon probably set you back $1600 or more). If you do like it as I have, then you saved a ton of money. Good luck and good shooting.
Ok, but needs a little work to make it right
Easy to mount, however it did not mount squarely on the receiver. Filed the bracket several times to get the mount to square-up properly. Holds well, but recommend the screws be set with locktite or they will loosen up with the recoil.
