much easier than blowing
This Pumphouse actually works! I have a regular size (20"x72") insulated air pad and I can fill it up in 7 or 8 refills. It is much much easier than blowing in air huffing and puffing using lung power. Also, one of the reviews mentions of catching air in the breeze but that's not the way I use the Pumphouse. I simply open the large opening, hold it in one hand with the bag hanging down, stick the other hand inside the opening and in a stirring motion create as much volume inside. Then close the opening to capture maximum volume of air. This method works really well. It's a pump, stuff sack, and pillow.

Strange but very effective!
Okay, I admit it, I was skeptical. However, after several tough hikes that brought us to a place where air was thin, I was looking for a solution that would keep me from huffing and puffing into by sleeping pad in order to get some well-earned shut-eye. So we ordered this because a compression bag that serves another purpose too is right up our alley. We were able to fill our air-core bags easily with plenty of energy to spare. We caught a little breeze in the bag and then rolled it up to push the air through the nozzle to fill the sleeping pad. It took 5 times to fill the pad but this would depend on: 1) the breeze; and 2) the size of the sleeping pad. All in all it was a great purchase. Do yourself a favour, get a colour you can find in your pack easily to take full advantage of this stress reducing gem.
pretty good
as a backpacking tool, its a pretty great item. its a very light material, so rolls up for low bulk and weight. easily does its job for blowing up a pad. i also find it to be useful for separating dirty laundry in my pack, or protecting electronic equipment from moisture in my pack.

so why 3 stars? maybe i should give it 4...
1) built and advertized to be a dry sack. this is misleading, the material is thin, and treated with a coating. there is no way to plug the nozzle side water tight. you couldn't use this as a dry sack rafting down a river, and would have to invest in the real thing.
2) 20 bucks is steep for what this product is. 10 bucks would be more appropriate, probably even lower.
